Fluffy Apple Sauce Cookies with Raisins

Recipes Stuff for Kids

These apple sauce cookies are soft, fluffy and delicious!  They are great for babies simply because, they don't require much chewing. The cookies pretty much dissolve in your mouth, except for the raisins that is.  You can leave the raisins out and they will still be very tasty. My grandchildren loved them and yours will too!

2 ½ cups of all-purpose flour
1 cup packed brown sugar
¼ teaspoon ground nutmeg
¼ teaspoon ground cloves
¾ teaspoon ground cinnamon
½ teaspoon baking soda

¾ cup of shortening
1 egg
1 cup of apple sauce

1 cup of raisins
nuts optional

Preheat oven to 325°. Mix the first six ingredients together until well combined.  In a separate bowl mix the next three ingredients together.  Combine the egg mixture to the flour mixture and blend well.  Add your raisins and nuts if desired.  Combine well.  Drop a tablespoon onto a nonstick cookie sheet and bake for about 8-10 minutes until slightly brown.  Makes about a dozen depending on how big you make the cookies.
