This Christmas gift basket was so easy to make and would make a perfect gift for a family member, neighbor, or friend. Recently, the basket was donated to a local fundraiser event to benefit the disaster relief in Puerto Rico. I thought the basket turned out so adorable that I wanted to share the contents with you and let you know that you can make one of your own with very little effort.
- Personalized Christmas stockings for a family
- Reindeer food
- "Cookies for Santa" plate
- Chocolate Chip Cookie Mix in a jar
- The "Santa Clause" movie
I picked out some of my favorite stockings and wrapped them neatly with twine. then added them to the back of the basket.
To make the reindeer pretend food, I took a plastic sandwich bag and added Quacker oats and some gold sugar (sprinkles from the bakery aisle). I folded over the top of the bag and stapled this tag to the top. There are many free printable tags available. Here is a link
to one. The tag is a little different, but it's the same concept.
Chocolate Chip Cookies in a Jar....
Next, I made Chocolate Chip Cookies in a jar. Instead of buying a whole carton of Mason canning jars, I found just one jar at my local dollar store. It was a near perfect quart size. It wasn't actually a mason jar, but was a nice glass jar with a lid. Inside I added the following ingredients in the order listed, padding down the contents as tight as possible. Here is the recipe that I used. You can also visit the website.
In a Quart size jar add the following:
First mix the flour, baking soda and salt then pat firmly to the bottom of the jar.
- 1 3/4 cup flour
- 3/4 teaspoon baking soda
- 3/4 teaspoon salt (optional)
Next layer add 3/4 cup of packed brown sugar, then on top of the brown sugar add 1/2 cup of granulated sugar, lastly add 1 cup of semi-sweet chocolate chips.
Attach the following tag to the jar:
Cookies from Santa Plate...
The "Cookies for Santa" plate, I actually purchased online from Walmart.
For only $13.00 you get a set of six of these plates.
I also added one of my favorite Christmas movies, "Santa Clause" with Tim Allen and a Gooseberry Patch Christmas Cookbook
. So, there's my Christmas gift basket. There are fun things that you can add to the basket like...Santa's bells, The Night Before Christmas book, Santa's key, etc... Have fun with it!
